Condition: The glass part of this pretty Deco sugar shaker was made by Paden City. The #201 Paden City sugar shaker bottom was used and the Measuring Device Corp. added the metal parts to the shaker and sold it under the Med-Co. name. This clever dispenser was designed to dispense one teaspoon of sugar a pour. The sugar shaker is in UNDAMAGED CONDITION without chips or cracks. There are a couple of common very small bubbles caught in the glass. These add to the beauty of our old glass and are to be expected. The sugar shaker is nice and clear without residue. The bottom ring has dulled considerably over the years, but is still clearly marked. The top is in excellent condition, with some fine scratching from years of use. It is still shiny and bright. This wonderful sugar shaker would be a great addition to any collector of Depression Era kitchen glassware items.

Medco TILT-A-SPOON SUGAR SHAKER / DISPENSER  (1925-30s)The glass part of this  pretty Deco sugar shaker was made by Paden City. The #201 Paden City sugar shaker bottom was used.  People find this sugar shaker with a Paden City's lid and assume that the lid has been replaced.  Not so; the flatter style lid without the measuring insert was sold by Paden City in their own line. It is shown offered in this way in an early catalog. The sugar shaker takes on a different appearance without the cone shaped lid Tilt-A-Spoon Sugar Shaker Bottomand metal ring on the base.  Measuring Device Corp added the cone shaped measuring metal parts to the #201 shaker and sold them under the Med-Co. name.  Some early examples of these sugar shakers have a metal band at the bottom that is embossed "CONTINENTAL SILVER CO. Patent Pending.""  The design for this sugar dispenser top was patented in 1925.  It is ingenious because it dispenses approximately one teaspoon of sugar a pour. This sugar shaker has been found in crystal, green, amber, and cobalt blue.  The amber and cobalt shakers are considered rare.  To date no other known colors  have been unearthed.
