Description / About: Fraunfelter Deco 6 Cup Teapot: 6" H. -9 3/4" L.
Fraunfelter China Company: Charles Fraunfelter who worked for Roseville Pottery branched out on his own in 1915 when he and a group of investors purchased the Ohio Pottery Company located in Zanesville, Ohio. They continued to produce many of the stoneware kitchenware items that Ohio Pottery was well known for. Items included bean pots, mixing bowls, and jugs. By 1918 the demand for these stoneware products declined so cooking wares and restaurant wares were added to the line. Bisque ware blanks were made for and decorated by individuals who enjoyed hand-painting porcelain items for a hobby. Ohio Pottery introduced a new line of porcelain called "Petroscan" in 1922. In 1923 the American China Products Company in Chesterton, Indiana was purchased and the company was reorganized and became The Fraunfelter China Company. The new acquisition only lasted a couple of years and was closed in 1925. Fraunfelter became well known for their dinnerware lines which were virtual copies of Rosenthal, Haviland, and several other well known companies of the time. Today many people collect the porcelain teapots made by Fraunfelter. These teapots are often very modernistic in both style and decoration. Some of them were sold to other companies who decorated them or added hardware and sold them under their brand. Fraunfelter did not market these products themselves but relied heavily on other companies to do so. By 1939 the company filed for bankruptcy and the company was closed.
