Dot Optic or Coin Spot made its first appearance in the Fenton line in 1908. Early pieces included a pitcher and tumbler combining to form a water set, in French Opalescent, Blue Opalescent, and Green Opalescent. In the early 1930s several different styles of lamps were produced in the Dot Optic pattern.  In the late 1930s to mid-1940s numerous other pieces were made in this pattern in French Opalescent, Green Opalescent, Blue Opalescent, Cranberry Opalescent, and Topaz Opalescent. In addition to producing Dot Optic pieces for the regular line, Fenton also made numerous pieces for private companies in colors and moulds similar to those used by Fenton.  Dot, a pattern made for L.G. Wrght, is one of the more frequently found patterns.
